Britains Dina Asher-Smith underlined her status as favourite for the world title that was 200m as she qualified for Wednesday.
The 23-year-old world 100m silver medallist acquired her semi-final in 22.16 seconds – the fastest time of the day.
Her hopes of becoming the first British woman to win a world sprint title increased together with the withdrawal of winner Elaine Thompson.
The final in the Khalifa Stadium of Doha starts at 20:35 BST.
Beth Dobbin and compatriots Jodie Williams failed to qualify for the final.
The time of asher-Smith proved to be a third of a second quicker than the second fastest qualifier, the Brittany Brown of USA. American winner Anglerne Annelus also qualified by winning her semi-final in 22.49.
The stars appear aligned with the Thompson linking Dutch defending winner Dafne Schippers , 100m bronze medallist Marie-Josee Ta Lou along with 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce one of the contenders to get pulled out of Jamaica. Nick Miller, rated fourth on the planet, qualified for Wednesdays hammer final with a throw of 76.36m. The Commonwealth winner, that had been one of 3 guys to throw over 80m last year, could be the first British male medallist in a casting event because Steve Backley won javelin silver.
Rabah Yousif, 32, was the only Briton to meet the requirements to Wednesdays mens 400m semi-finals since he finished third in his heat. European champion Matthew Hudson-Smith had to be assisted off the trail and endured an accident.
Im surprised I felt great. I wasnt overly stiff so I simply had to come along and give it a go, said Yousif, who has competed in two 4x400m races.
I want another couple of gears.
Grenadas Kirani James, who won the world title in 2011 and golden at London 2012, was the fastest qualifier within 44.94 moments. USAs Michael Norman and Fred Kerley, just two of the favorites having both run beneath this year, are also.
World and Olympic champion and world record holder Wayde van Niekerk failed to recover from a knee injury in time for the Championships.
In the womens 400m, Emily Diamond and Britons Laviai Nielsen missed out on a place in Thursdays closing. Champion Miller-Uibo will be the favourite that was outstanding and slipped to the closing.
Both Jessica Turner and bronze medallist Meghan Beesley qualified for Wednesdays 400m hurdles semi-finals. The pair finished third in their respective heats.
Ive had a great two decades now, I am feeling strong today, Beesley told BBC Sport. I expect I could go out there tomorrow and step it up a bit.
USA set Dalilah Muhammad along with Sydney McLaughlin improved. Olympic winner Muhammad, 29, is the hot favourite using set a new world record – 52.20 seconds – at the national trials.
In the mens 3,000m steeplechase heats, Zak Seddon, Britains sole representative, finished seventh in his heat and missed out to a spot in Fridays final.
The United States surged further ahead after three golden medals on day five in the medal table, such as Noah Lyles success in the mens 200m.
Success came in the mens pole vault final, which was a titanic tussle between winner Sam Kendricks that was American and Swedish prodigy Armand Duplantis.
It seemed the 19-year-old European champion had it sewn up when he cleared 5.97m together with his third effort, prior to the American matched his accomplishment to a roar inside the Khalifa International Stadium.
Duplantis failed to clean 6.02m, which given Kendricks the victory count-back. Bronze moved to Polands Piotr Lisek.
In the mens 800m final, Donavan Braziers bold tactics paid off because he comfortably won in one minute 42.34 seconds – a new championship and USA record.
The 22-year-old, next in the world standing behind the Nijel Amos of Botswana, maintained his form to win his first significant title and began his bid from 300m outside.
Bosnian Amel Tuka promised the Ferguson Rotich of Kenya along with silver was still third.
Among the moments of the championships came from the heats for the 400m hurdles when Qatars Mariam Mamdouh Farid ended last in 1 minute 9.49 minutes – almost 12secs supporting another placed athlete, but at a personal best time.
The 21-year-old, one of just two athletes in Qatar for the first time, explained her involvement at the occasion was important.
My goal is inspiring the younger generation, breaking down barriers, making peoples awareness of how women are at the Middle East, said Farid, who was competing at a dark full bodysuit under a national group singlet.
We are not oppressed. My head and I can still compete on. If theres something Id like to do, then I will do it.
