Europe lead the United States following the opening day of the inaugural The Match sports competition in Minsk, Belarus by 27 points.
Britain’s Daryll Neita produced a nice run to win the women’s 100m within 11.29 moments, however the US finished first, third and second in the men’s event.
Alexandra Bell, another British athlete, won the women’s 800m but Jake Wightman lost out in a sprint finish into American Josh Thompson in the 1500m.
The two-day event concludes on Tuesday.

Belarus’ Maksim Nedasekau won the high jump by clearing 2.35m, a world lead for 2019, while USA won the last race of the afternoon – the men’s 4x100m relay – in a time of 38.26 minutes.
The quartet consisted of Isiah Young, Mike Rodgers, Demek Kemp and Chris Belcher, although Belcher, who ran the last leg apologised for celebrating before the conclusion of the race and slowing down.
He wrote on Twitter:”Only need to take some opportunity to apologize to USA Track and Field, the coaching staff, and my USA teammates for showboating.
“That is not my style of running and I know I ruined a chance for us to really have a high time on the planet for the 4×100. I am truly sorry and will not ever take action.”

There will be a different 19 contests on Tuesday, with the final one being a combined 4x400m relay, using every quartet consisting of two men and two women.
