Defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan reached the Shanghai Masters for the third year in a row using a 10-6 win over Neil Robertson.
World champion O’Sullivan, 43, will face fellow Englishman Shaun Murphy at Sunday’s closing.
The very first session found Robertson, 3-2 down, miscue attempting the yellowish.
The 37-year-old ruined his tip, dropping a chunk from it, as it was repaired, leading to a temporary suspension.
He maintained his composure to shoot three of the four glasses that were subsequent but took control, winning six of their seven glasses to reach the final.
